Alta Langa “Cinquecento”
This is a relatively new project for Vite Colte. Their first release of Alta Langa was in 2020, the 2016 Millesimato. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards used to produce this sparkling wine are located in the Alta Langa at the northern edge of the Langhe, with an average altitude of 500 (cinquecento) meters above sea level, on soils rich in limestone, marls, and sand.
The wine is produced in the traditional method (Metodo Classico). The grapes, 80% Pinot Nero and 20% Chardonnay, are harvested by hand and vinified separately. Temperature controlled fermentation takes place and the wine rests and clarifies on the lees until the following spring, when the Chardonnay and Pinot Nero is blended and bottled for 30 months. Small production of around 15,000 bottles.
