Collemattoni Rosso di Montalcino
Rosso di Montalcino, sometimes called a “Baby Brunello”, is made from the same grapes as the Brunello, only crafted for earlier drinking. Released three years prior to the Brunello, it has typical Sangiovese ruby red color, with cherry and raspberries. Very well balanced with good acidity, fruit, and moderate alcohol. Aged for a minimum of 12 months in big Slovanian oak barrels, and further refinement with 3-4 months in the bottle. 5-7 years aging potential, but no need to wait. Drink while you cellar the Brunello for a bit.

The Rosso di Montalcino is the ideal starting point for understanding the true expression of Montalcino wines. A wine of character with a pleasant fruit typical of a young wine but with the intensity that only the terroir of Montalcino can donate.
